Mayor Asis: We Value Our Children


“We Value Our Children”

BAYUGAN CITY, Agusan del Sur -- Mayor Kim Lope “Bobong” A. Asis emphasized the importance of the Children in his State of the Children’s Address (SOCA) during the 22nd Children’s Month celebration at the Lope A. Asis Memorial Gymnasium last October 15.

On his SOCA, Mayor Asis happily announced the public about winning the 2nd place for the 2014 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) in the whole Caraga region with only a margin of point against the number one.

Also, the completion of the Children Crisis Intervention Center, which aims to reduce the intensity of a child’s emotional, mental, physical and behavioral reactions to a crisis.

According to Mayor Asis, the LGU of Bayugan always gives its best to support the welfare of the children by giving a Supplemental Feeding to 2,676 day care children at 74 day care centers in 43 barangays.  Through the feeding program, from 923 underweight and severely underweight children it was down to 815 as of this moment.

And because of this, Mayor Asis appreciates the well-defined programs of the City Health Office that contributed in the depreciating number of malnourished children. And the LGU will continue to give a fund of 3 million pesos for the vitamins for the children.

Currently, the administration supported 2,126 families as PhilHealth active members.

“Last August 29th, we spearheaded the launching of Measles Rubella and Oral Polio Vaccine - Ligtas Tigdas Mass Immunization for Children wherein the City was ranked 2nd in the entire Caraga Region with a superb 105% immunization rate” he happily said to the audiences.
 
The Alternative Learning System (ALS) helps many of the Out-of-School-Youth receive support and programs established for the street children.

According to the Mayor Asis, the city has 85 so called “Iskolar ng Bayugan” and 34 of them are now on their 3rd year with a fund allocation of 3 million pesos for the school year 2014-2015.
Mayor Bobong Asis also acknowledged the efforts of the Basketball team of Bayugan during the 9th Governor’s Cup 2014 which had no loss record.

Before the State of the Children’s Address ends, the mayor encourages all the sectors in the City to be responsible in the promotion and safeguarding of the children’s rights and development.

“Before this year ends, the Office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod will endorse an ordinance regulating the seating capacity of tricycles and the prohibition on the selling of firecrackers to the children and will enact our City’s Children Code,” announced by the Mayor.

After the State of the Children’s Address, Mayor Bobong Asis received a Certificate of Appreciation from the DILG.
