BAYUGAN CITY, Agusan del Sur -- The First in Agusan del Sur and can only be seen in the City of Bayugan.
For many years, since the creation of the village of Mt. Carmel, this is the very first time to have their own source of Rice and can be harvested in their village. This is the great benefit of the newly constructed Rockwall Establishment also known as Rice Terraces.
The said project was inaugurated during the Rockwall Establishment Skills Training for Rice Production Graduation Day last November 12, 20114 at the village of Mt. Carmel.
The City Mayor Kim Lope “Bobong” A. Asis attended the event with the City Agriculture Office and the Provincial Agriculture Office.
By the efforts of the Provincial, City and Barangay Local Government Unit, Department of Agriculture and especially the 33 people from Mt. Carmel, who joined the project to create and materialized the dream of every person in the mountainous area.
“Nakatabang kaayo nig dako sa amo una pagpalambo sa amoang palibot… kinahanglan og accessible nga dalan busa ang atong halandon nga mayor nag-assist jud siya pinaagi sa pagpagraba sa atong mga nakalibaong nga karsada, so, usa na ka benepisyo diin ang mga mag-uuma usab makagamit sa maong kalsada nga ayahay na paingon sa Bayugan nga mapadala ang among produkto nga dili bun-og…” said Barangay Captain Mela P. Ajan of Mt. Carmel.
Mayor Bobong Asis encourages the newly graduates to pursue and strive to maintain the said project and will not easily discourage if there is a problem. And the LGU will continue to support as long as the people will show passion to uplift their lives.
“Dako kaayo nig tabang… ug masulbad ang among kalisod pinaagi ani nga project...” said Mr. Fernando Uba, Batch 1 Leader, “dako kaayo among kalipay nga sa amo mismo gilusad ang proyekto,” he added.
There are 3 batches with 10 days each, to create the Rockwall and the City Government of Bayugan support the project by providing the materials and equipment and incidental expenses as its counterpart for the project.
The Rockwall establishment will expectedly boosts the agro-ecotourism in the City of Bayugan. (Report from Ms. Melody De Vera)
